Like The New Look Of Posterous Spaces

It's been a bit since I joined Posterous and I have not been very active lately, but that's going to change, and quickly! I like the new stuff and how easy it is to use for people like me, LOL! I'm going to be getting more active on here and incorporating this platform in my overall online world, if that makes since to you.

Now I've Seen It All!

After seeing this I can now say that I've seen it all! I give him credit for getting out there and doing it.

Gneiting weighed 396.2 pounds after the marathon, smashing the past world record of 275 pounds and beating his 2008 marathon time of 11:52:11.

"I'd like to see the Kenyan improve his marathon time by two hours," he joked.

Gneiting jogged the first eight miles and walked the final 18, saying afterward that he lost track of where he was after mile 10 because he felt delirious.

He finished the 26.2-mile race despite heavy rains and strong winds. For much of the race, he was also forced to obey traffic signals and walk on the sidewalk because he was walking far more slowly than the 13-minute-per-mile-pace used for calculating street reopenings.

NFL QB's In New Cities Next Season

This sounds right to me, I can see Carson Palmer going to Seattle and hooking back up with Pete Carroll who was his college coach. Donovan McNabb in Arizona is another situation I could see happening. I hope this NFL lockout will hurry up and get over b/c I miss talking FOOTBALL!

10:03 AM ET 03.20 | As soon as the lockout ends, keep an eye on three quarterbacks: Cincinnati's Carson Palmer, who desperately wants out; Washington's Donovan McNabb, who lost his job to Rex Grossman; and, Philly's Kevin Kolb, who lost his job to Michael Vick after he suffered a concussion in the first game. Where do they wind up? Palmer goes to Seattle to reunite with his college coach Pete Carroll; McNabb goes to Arizona; Kolb stays put - Vick gets hurt too much not to have quality insurance.

A Voice For NFL Fans

All NFL Fans need to check this out and get your say about whats going on with the NFL Lockout!

Amplify’d from www.savenextseason.com

Dear NFL Commissioner, NFL Owners, and NFL Players,

You have publicly feuded about how to divide up the billions in annual revenue for too long and now next season is in jeopardy. Lacking in this discussion is the biggest voice and constituency with both an emotional and financial investment in future NFL seasons — the fans.

We ask that you immediately guarantee to us that there will be a 2011 season.

We have already spent billions of dollars financing NFL stadiums. If you are unwilling to at least play football games, we will ask you to return some of those tax dollars to our communities.

As you know, the NFL brings families and communities together, which, in these tough times, is more important than ever.

Let's all work together to Save Next Season!

Sincerely,

NFL Fans and Members of Sports Fans Coalition

Roger Goodell, Commissioner - National Football League
280 Park Avenue New York, NY 10017

DeMaurice Smith, Executive Director - National Football League Players Association
1133 20th Street, NW Washington, DC 20036

On behalf of NFL fans everywhere, we are requesting that the leadership of Sports Fans Coalition be present for future negotiating sessions between the NFL and the NFL Players Association until such time as a new collective bargaining agreement is reached.

We are not asking for a seat at the negotiating table -- although we believe fans deserve one -- but merely to be present in the room so that we may inform fans across the country about the state of ongoing negotiations and ensure that progress is being made towards an agreement that ensures a central consideration of fans.

As fans and taxpayers, we have invested over $6.5 billion around the country on NFL stadiums, in addition to the billions we have spent on tickets and NFL merchandise. We have transformed our urban centers with the promise that new stadiums would serve as an economic boon to the surrounding community. A work stoppage would be devastating to many cities, including local workers and businesses.

Why Are So Many Kids Dying In Sports?

This is the 3rd kid to die playing sports in the last month that I've heard about. What is going on with kids dying while playing sports these days? I can't remember ever hearing about something like this happening while I was growing up and playing sports. It's very scary as a parent when you hear about something like this happening, but 3 in a month is really troublesome.

McALLEN, Texas — A South Texas high school basketball player died after collapsing during a timeout at a tournament in Austin, coaches said.

Roma High School junior Robert Garza, 16, was playing in the AAU tournament on Saturday with the Hoopsters, a South Texas club team, when he collapsed without any warning.

"It's unexplainable. He got a glass of water. He 'high-fived' Pablo Adame (a Hoopster teammate) and then it just happened. He collapsed," Hoopster coach Arnold Martinez told The Monitor of McAllen.

"During pregame warm-ups, he was dunking the ball and laughing with his teammates. Everything looked good," he told the newspaper.

Paramedics administered CPR, but Garza was pronounced dead at Austin's Brackenridge Hospital just more than an hour later, said Abelardo Escobar, Garza's high school coach. An autopsy was planned.

I Agree With Mark Cuban On Anthony Trade

The Knicks got the better end now, but not over the long haul in my opinion! I agree with Mavericks owner Mark Cuban on this and think Carmelo Anthony needs to stop worrying what the public thinks and just play ball for the New York Knicks!

Amplify’d from www.fannation.com

09:03 AM ET 03.12 | From the Mavericks' locker-room treadmill, sweat-soaked Dallas owner Mark Cuban declared Thursday night the Nuggets made out better than the Knicks in the Carmelo Anthony blockbuster trade. This was before his Mavericks slaughtered the Knicks, 127-109. "They hit a home run," Cuban said of the stash the Nuggets acquired. Hours later, Anthony, tired of hearing the Knicks gave up too many pieces, shot back: "I'm pretty sure Cuban's happy that I'm out of the West. I'm pretty sure if I had come here, that he would have gotten the better end of the deal. So, that's cool."

Solid Move By The Washington Redskins

I like the Redskins signing of Safety O.J. Atogwe and think he will work well with LaRon Landry. I like this article by former Redskin LaVar Arrington and agree with almost all of his points, except one. Atogwe and Landry will never reach the potential of what the combo of Taylor and Landry were heading towards in my opinion. This is a good signing though, what do you think?

Chalk one up for the Redskins.

As time passed and a lockout neared, I was beginning to wonder whether they would make any moves before a work stoppage.

It happened yesterday. The Redskins signed Oshiomogho Isaac "O. J." Atogwe, formerly of the Saint Louis Rams, a true free safety.

This defense has some holes that need to be filled if it is to improve from last year. With an injury-ravaged secondary, free safety became a big issue for Jim Haslett's 3-4 defense.

Free safeties need to be able to direct traffic and cover space well. Atogwe is more than capable of taking on these responsibilities. Atogwe was used more like a strong safety in Saint Louis, which meant playing him in the box, closer to the line, which didn't favor his skill set.

I'm sure that's why Washington was so attractive, because those are the duties of one Laron Landry, who in my opinion may have been the best strong safety in the game until his injury last season. With Landry's presence in the box and Atogwe roaming back off the box, this could be a tandem that potentially could be as effective as what the Redskins tried to do with Sean Taylor and Landry.

Atogwe's strengths exist within his ability to roam in the secondary. Adding him to DeAngelo Hall at corner may create a spike in the interceptions column.

This was a signing for a reported $26 million over five years. I like the signing and the numbers are reasonable for a player who could vastly improve the secondary.

A.J. Hawk Is Available, Wow!

I like A.J. Hawk and didn't see this coming because of all the stuff going on with the Washington Redskins and they have been releasing!

The Green Bay Packers cut linebacker A.J. Hawk Wednesday afternoon.

The former Ohio State standout was due $10 million for the 2011 season–a price the Packers could not justify and unwilling to pay.

“With A.J., the business side of the game is driving this decision,” Packers Executive Vice President, G.M. and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson said.

Hawk recorded 111 tackles and three interceptions in 2010.

Clinton Portis Had A Nice Run With The Redskins

This is a very well written and fair piece about Clinton Portis and has a lot of great stats and info that a lot of people are not thinking about when they say Portis isn't an all-time great Redskins player!

Amplify’d from www.redskins.com

Thanks, Clinton.

Seven seasons with the Redskins, none of them boring.

You shouldered the load and carried this team when required. You brought some levity with your costumes and interviews. You performed at a high level for a team that made the playoffs just twice during your tenure and you gained more than a few tough yards.

Sorry, Clinton. Wish it didn’t have to end this way.

Time exacts its toll on all players, but especially running backs, and few of those enjoy monster seasons once they pass 30. Oh, there’s always the occasional resurgent burst, as LaDainian Tomlinson exhibited with the New York Jets in 2010, but the general rule for backs is the one that prevailed for all of society in the 1960s – Don’t trust anyone over 30.

He also disappeared because of injuries. A concussion in 2009 had him inactive for four games and on injured reserve for the final four. In 2010, in his reunification season with Shanahan, Portis earned the starting job but his body would not let him keep it. A groin injury sidelined him for five games and then an abdominal tear that required surgery finished him, limiting him to five games and a career-low of 227 rushing yards.

No one should forget what he meant to that Redskins playoff drive in 2005, when the club won its last five games to clinch a wild-card berth post and post a 10-6 record. Portis put the team on his back and on those famously sloped shoulders and carried it to its first postseason appearance since the 1999 season.

He rushed for 573 yards and six touchdowns in that span. He averaged 26 carries per game and 114.6 yards and finished the season with nine 100-yard games.

Thanks for the memories. Thanks for making that run at John Riggins’ club record of 7,472 yards. Portis ends at 6,824 in a Redskins uniform. Thanks for giving us Southeast Jerome and some other memorable masquerades that brought some levity.

Thanks for being the complete player, the type of back who would do the dirty work of blocking. Running backs coach Bobby Turner, who also worked with Portis in Denver, has often talked of how the thing that first caught his eye when he scouted Portis at the University of Miami was the blocking.

The New York Knicks Are Back In Contention

The new "Big Three" for the New York Knicks has gelled faster than people thought and they have the Knicks back into contention for an NBA Championship!

Amplify’d from beltwayboysports.com

The New York Knicks version of the “Big Three” proved to be to much for the “Big Three” from the Miami Heat to handle in last nights highly anticipated matchup. The Knicks showed tremendous heart to go into Miami and fight back from a 15 point deficit to beat the Heat 91-86. It was a great game and lived up to it’s hype and I think it makes a huge statement to the rest of the NBA that the new look Knicks are serious contenders and will be a very dangerous team in the NBA Playoffs.

What is even more impressive to me is that the Knicks “Big Three” of Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, and Chauncey Billups have only been together for about a week and the Heat’s “Big Three” of LeBron James, DeWayne Wade, and Chris Bosh have been together for the whole season. That is not a good sign if you are a Heat fan and think an NBA Championship is coming to South Beach this June. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s not happening this season!
